Message from the Club - February 2012

MITP Update by Alan Meehan

Midwest Mopars in the Park National Car Show and Swap Meet 2012 proudly presents Bill “Maverick” Golden as our featured guest. Maverick will be on hand to sign autographs and visit with our guests all weekend long.

Most Chrysler fans know Bill "Maverick" Golden for his years piloting the "Little Red Wagon." Fewer are aware of his involvement in the Super Stock ranks during the early part of the '60s as well as his performance development work with Chrysler. A fierce competitor, Maverick had the winningest Super Stock car in drag racing history and the Little Red

Wagon has graced the covers of at least 26 Magazines and won countless awards. You can see Maverick along with his famous Little Red Wagon D-100 Dodge pickup truck (owned by Greg and Kathy Mosley) and his 1964 Hemi Super Stock Dodge now owned by Dr. Terry Winkler. Look for them in the Race Barn all day Saturday and Sunday June 2nd and 3rd!

MITP Update by Renee Quimby

Preparation for this show started even before the 2011 Show was happening. There isn’t a month that goes by that at least ONE component for the next show must be dealt with. All of us have work to do for these shows, whether it is paying membership dues or being the Show Chair, or any level in between. Everything really does play into the final product for our Club.

Thanks must be given along the way, so we all know we are appreciated. One aspect of thanks was complimentary dinner tickets for the Winter Banquet. Another is dinner at the Show Board meetings. This Club is very thankful for all our volunteers, and we want those who volunteer to know we are grateful.

To the former Show Chairs--we appreciate all your work to get things lined up in your respective areas for the Show. You have laid the ground-work and at times taken the heat for things done--or NOT done.

To the current Show Chairs--all of you know that any time my assistance is needed, just ask. I am still learning, and you have all been encouraging, supportive and informative.

To FUTURE Show Chairs--anyone interested in helping with the Show, for this year or those to come, make sure you let me know! My contact info is somewhere in this fabulous newsletter.

The next Show Board meeting is planned for sometime in March. See you all there!
