Mopars in the Park Survival Guide - by Wade Girard

We are in the final weeks of preparing for this years Mopars in the Park. Our 29th year for the show, and it is going to be awesome!!! You will not want to miss out on everything that we are putting together, and so I have put together a little survival guide to help you plan out your weekend.

First off, when to arrive. If you are a spectator, the gates will open at 9:00 am on both Saturday and on Sunday. Everyone who arrives before then will be lined up until the gates open. Show cars can start 0entering the fairgrounds at 7:00 AM.

If you are showing, and are pre-registered, you will have a class and car number already assigned to you, you can go directly in and find your class on the show fields and park. If you are in show field C, we “may” have moved it again. We are trying hard to find the best spot for show field C, just ask any one of the show car parking volunteers when you arrive for assistance on finding your class. If you are not preregistered, you will need to go through classifying, it may take a few minutes longer, be patient. The busiest time for this is Saturday morning and the volunteers who do the classifying work as hard and fast as they can to get everyone properly classified.

After you are in the show you MUST go to the registration building... I repeat EVERYONE MUST go through the registration building and check in. This is where you will get your goodie bag (while supplies last) and get checked in so that we know you are here. Note that you can do this on Friday afternoon (May 31) between the hours of 4 to 6 PM. It is much less chaotic at the registration table at this time, plus you can scope out your class parking area.

Saturday Events

All Day: $25 Dyno pulls. Yep, you read that right, only $25 to put your car on the Dyno. This is a great deal and you will want to get to the Dyno early to get signed up.

1:00: The Sox and Martin Reunion. You will not want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the reunion of the remaining members of the legendary Sox and Martin racing team. They will talk about their experiences, reminisce, and answer your questions. This will be held in the racer barn this year and is sure to be an experience that you want want to miss.

3:00: The Challenger Parade. Back by popular demand will be the 3rd attempt to get into the Guinness World Record book with the largest parade of modern Dodge Challengers. Watch the cars parade out of the fairgrounds and cheer them on at they make history.

Sunday Events

All Day: Free Dyno! If you thought that $25 dyno pulls were a great deal, then you will think that free is even better!!! Because it is. Space will be limited, so sign up early for this if you want to run your car on it. See the dyno operator for details.

1:00: Burn out contest. Your opportunity to show off how good of a burn out your car, and you, can do. Bring an extra set of tires, and something to clean the burnt rubber off your quarter panels, because it’s hard to explain to the officer on your way home that you were not doing burnouts when the evidence is right there. Cash prizes are awarded.

3:00: Award ceremony. The end to a wonderful and memorable weekend is the ceremony where we award the best of the best in each class.

All Weekend

The largest all Mopar Swap Meet in the Midwest. Find some of the rarest and hard to find parts for your Mopar all in one show. It is fun just walking around and seeing all the amazing parts that show up and are for sale. Car Corral. Your opportunity to buy a Mopar. From the completed and ready to show muscle cars to the project cars that are just waiting to be torn apart. You can get what you are looking for, and probably for a lot less than Barrett-Jackson.
