News From the North Side - by Curt and Janet
Mopars in the Park 2010 is in the books and we heard no complaints about DUST. The show committee did a great job on that but hopefully next year they will come up with a different way to control it without the rain. All kidding aside, we thought it was a great show and everyone we talked with loved the show and had a great time in spite of the weather. Except for a short time Saturday afternoon the sprinkles we had did not dampen the enthusiasm of those who attended. If you were one of those who stayed home because of the weather, you missed out on a great event. We had many buildings with displays and vendors to keep you busy during the times it was sprinkling.
If you think of the saying "If you build it they will come" that is what happened with our show. In spite of the weather predictions we still had a full house of Cars, Swappers & Spectators. We would like to thank all who came out to support our club and show.
We had a great turn out of celebrities, famous cars both Racing and Movie. We had a chance to talk with many of the racers and the people with the movie cars and they all had interesting stories. Luckily the weather was great for the opening ceremonies and for the second year in a row we had a great group of celebrities. Stay tuned to see if we can top it next year.
The swappers did great business and this year we even had a little time to check out the vendors and pick up a few deals.
Preliminary results indicate the show was about equal with last year’s so if we would have had a sunny Saturday we would have no doubt had a blockbuster show.
We had a busy week starting Friday with getting our 4 cars down to the show, our daughter and son in law with their truck and our son and his family with 2 cars and camping gear. They were camping with the latest addition to the Lawson family Koltyn who is just 2 months old. We are starting him out on the Mopar path early.
Sunday we had to get everyone and the cars home and we were suppose to head to Branson, MO that evening for our WWNBOA National meet which started Monday but by the time we got everything situated it was 9:30 PM so we decided to leave early Monday morning. We have limited space in the newsletter this month because of all the show info so next month we will cover our adventures in Branson.
Thanks everyone who supported our show this year and for those of you that did not make it, make sure you plan on attending next year and don’t let the weather keep you away.
